Hush Interiors was the successful tenderer for the Carlton Hotel Rebuild to install all the suspended ceilings in the project including Burger King, 1st-floor offices and the Carlton bar.
Hush Interiors were provided with a photo of a ceiling in Germany made of painted Glass tiles formed in the 1850's.
The panels were freighted to New Zealand where they were drilled for sprinklers and to be laminated to meet the modern building code
All panels were 500 x 500 and the grid had to be cut to suit, replicating the old while remain seismically strong.
The glass tile ceiling over the bar was awarded the AWCI Heritage Award in 2013.
